College Essay Topics - An Attentive StudentAn avid college essay topic can be a bit of a surprise to most students, but it's not always as bad as some make it out to be. By talking to the dean of the college you're hoping to get into, you should be able to find out what the appropriate topics are and how they'll be assessed. The same principles apply to your college essay. You don't want to let your subject matter or topic to sit idle, waiting for the right person to read it; you want to be the one that can finally present it in the best possible light.
It's never too late to start writing, but you need to have your subject in the starting blocks as early as possible, so it doesn't just take a week to write your first draft. Instead, start with your letter of introduction (if it isn't already) and work your way up from there. Be sure to keep things short and punchy at first, but then you can expand outwards from there. By the time you get to the end of your first draft, you should have some sort of outline to work from. Don't worry about ending up with an overly long initial draft. If you find yourself fighting over the last few words, you might want to add in a few more. Just make sure that you remember where you started and what you are trying to accomplish, and that the topics are easy to follow and you won't forget them. As you start to flesh out your final draft, don't be afraid to include more information. Although you may think that this is too much for a college essay, remember that it's meant to be a powerful read. Remember that if you want people to take something away from your essay, you need to add more to it. Once you are finished with your final draft, mark it up and get it turned in. Don't forget to send it in before the deadline. Make sure to put your name on the cover sheet and include contact information. Also, be sure to include a resume when you turn in your final draft. Once you have had a chance to review your final draft, let the professor know what you liked about it and what you would have done differently. Take some notes and make sure that you give your college essay topics some thought. I'm sure that when you graduated from high school, you loved the subjects that you chose for your essay, but did you realize how much time and effort you were going to need to put into it? With the right advice, it can all be worth it. Think about all of the benefits that come with writing a college essay.
